The Mentawaii Islands are famous for their sparsely populated linepads and the regularity of incoming swells and waves.
Usually on Mentawaii during the dry season (May through October), you'll find a large number of longtime surfers who have flown to the islands in search of perfect waves and long tubes.
When's the trip?
We chose February for our trip because it is considered as a "shoulder season" and the best time for intermediate (+) surfers. Medium-sized waves plus less competition in the lineups will allow you to practice new skills, advance in surfing, enjoy the variety of breaks, and the beauty of the little inhabited islands of the Indian Ocean.
Where are we going to live?
Imagine yourself waking up in the morning in a cozy bungalow right on the oceanfront, offering stunning views of waves and sunrise. Here you can enjoy privacy, relax to the sound of the waves, and enjoy the atmosphere of true surfing.
The surf level for this camp
This camp is suitable for confident INTERMEDIATE surfers who want to ride waves in a relaxed manner, improve speed management, and turns.
Having your own board (or two) is a must. Suitable boards - middle length or a short board, that you are able to paddle on and control well.
Required skills: you understand basic positioning in the line-up, catch waves on your own, have confident pop up and turn to the open face of the wave.
